The North Island's bucket-list epic: a roughly 1,046 km gravel loop from Comox linking massive valleys, deep fjords, and coastal villages, Gold River, Tahsis, Zeballos, Port Alice, Holberg and its famously remote pub, on a patchwork of forest service roads. Along the way: whale watching, caves, and some of BC's best waterside camping. Plan on 15 days, a water-taxi leg from Tahsis to Zeballos, unreliable village resupply, and weather that can turn any season. Note the 2026 Strathcona Dam closure reroutes the early kilometres around Campbell Lake.
