Join We Welcome Cyclists

BC's cycle tourism accreditation program. Free to join.

Cycle tourists plan their trips around businesses that genuinely welcome them. In Quebec, where the Bienvenue cyclistes! program has run for decades, 31% of overnight cycle tourists adapt their itinerary based on certification (47% stayed at a certified establishment, and two-thirds of those said certification influenced their choice). The Accredited badge is how we signal that to BC's growing cycle tourism market.

What you get

The form takes about 10 minutes. We review applications ourselves and aim to respond within two weeks. Accreditation lasts two years — we check in then to confirm your listing is still accurate.

Your business
An email cyclists can use to ask about bike storage, availability, etc. This will be visible on your listing.
This will appear in your listing. What would you want a cyclist to know?
Don't fit neatly into a category? Email us and we'll figure it out together.
Your local knowledge
We Welcome Cyclists Local Knowledge Sheet
A short card your staff can keep at the front desk for cyclists who ask "where can I get my bike fixed?" or "is there a grocery store nearby?" We can look up trail maps and hospital phone numbers — what we can't look up is the local knowledge that makes a cyclist's trip easier. Fill in what you know and we'll email you a printable sheet to review, edit, and keep behind the desk. Partial answers are fine, we'll help fill gaps. See an example →
Where would you send a cyclist with a flat tire or a broken spoke?
Closest options for a hungry cyclist — include distance if it's not obvious
If a cyclist needed to leave the area with their bike — what are the options? Public bus, local taxi with a van, a neighbour who does runs to town, a shuttle service?
Things a visiting cyclist wouldn't know but should. Trail closures, wildlife, road conditions, water sources, cell coverage, great pie, anything.
