The Recreation Centre sits within the Royal Roads University campus at Hatley Park, a 260-hectare National Historic Site roughly 25 minutes west of downtown Victoria. The wider estate encompasses Hatley Castle, formal Italian and Japanese gardens, and an extensive network of walking, hiking, and biking trails through old-growth coastal forest. Touring cyclists can combine a trail ride with visits to the castle and gardens, making this a notable stop on the Victoria–Sooke corridor.
