How we describe routes →On Galiano Island, a ferry-hop from Swartz Bay or Tsawwassen, rides of 5 to 42 km climb through forest and quiet parkland to coastal viewpoints over the Salish Sea, with Montague Harbour the classic destination. The island is genuinely steep in places, and the narrow roads are shared, so take the hills as a feature and the pace as given.
