Frog Peak Loop

The Frog Peak Loop starts and ends in Nelson, BC's unofficial cycling capital. The route heads west through the Slocan Valley on the rail trail, passing through Crescent Valley (where Frog Peak Cafe is the perfect stop), Slocan Park, and Winlaw before climbing over the Bonnington and Pulpit ridges back to Nelson.
Despite the 'ambitious' rating, this is widely considered a gateway bikepacking route — the climbs are real but manageable, the valley sections are flat and beautiful, and Nelson is always within a day's ride. Water is available from streams and creeks throughout; 2L capacity is plenty.
The Slocan Valley has a distinct vibe — quirky small towns, organic farms, hot springs nearby, and a community that genuinely welcomes cyclists.
