The Laurie Guichon Memorial Grasslands Interpretive Site is a 102-hectare outdoor interpretive area on Provincial Crown land approximately 11 km east of Merritt, established in 2001 to educate the public about the ecological, economic, and social values of BC's Southern Interior grasslands. Named in honour of Laurie Guichon, a fourth-generation Nicola Valley rancher and founding member of the Nicola Watershed Community Round Table, the site includes a viewing platform and supports school groups and general visitors. Touring cyclists in the Merritt area would encounter open grassland scenery and interpretive programming about one of BC's most distinctive and threatened ecosystems.
