It runs the City Smiles Initiative, which has served over 3,210 free meals and drinks to the local homeless community, and hosts weekly events including open mic nights, a book club, creative writing sessions, and Sunday jazz. The café operates its own roaster (City Smiles Roaster) and supports a neighbourhood publication, The East Café Chronicles.
