Charters River Salmon Interpretive Centre

The Charters River Salmon Interpretive Centre, operated by the Juan de Fuca Salmon Restoration Society, brings Pacific salmon ecology to life through indoor exhibits, a working demonstration hatchery, a freshwater aquarium, and a Sooke River watershed diorama — including intricately carved fishing vessel models contributed by T'Sou-ke Nation carver Harvey George. The park-like grounds follow the north bank of the Charters River, and a nature trail on the opposite bank loops past the historic CNR railway trestle, now part of the Galloping Goose Regional Trail. During autumn spawning season, visitors sometimes observe bears harvesting salmon in the river alongside trained naturalist guides.
