The Shinglemill is a pub and bistro perched on the shores of Powell Lake, a glacially-formed lake stretching 32 km north of Powell River, with the only marina on the lake sitting right next door. Originally a shingle mill community dating to 1913, the restaurant opened in 1986 and offers deck seating overlooking boat traffic on the water. Cyclists riding the Sunshine Coast route — accessible via two BC Ferries crossings from Vancouver — will find a full menu of food, drinks, local craft beer, and a catering service just off Powell Place.
