The Mayne Island Museum is housed in the original 1896 Plumper Pass Gaol — one of the oldest surviving structures on the island — and tells the stories of First Nations, Japanese, and European settlers who shaped island life. A separate Dalton Deacon Barn adjacent to the gaol holds donated farm machinery and larger heritage pieces. Two digital collections, including the John Aitken Historic Photograph Collection, extend the museum's reach for visitors and researchers alike.
