The Surly Mermaid is a casual, Ocean Wise-certified seafood restaurant established in 2015 on Sidney's Seaport Place, built around fresh Vancouver Island ingredients and a creative seasonal menu. Offerings range from Salt Spring mussels and tuna crudo to pub-style shareables and a rotating selection of local draft beers and handcrafted cocktails. A patio with a dog-friendly tie-up area beside it and a family-friendly dining room give it a welcoming, unhurried character well suited to a mid-ride meal stop.
