Big Bad John's is a world-famous hillbilly bar that traces its roots to BC's first-ever licensed cocktail lounge, opened in 1954 at the Strathcona Hotel. Originally a temporary transformation for the 1962 Seattle World's Fair, the bar proved so popular with patrons that it never reverted — peanut shells still litter the floor and guests are invited to add their own mementos to the walls.
