Free on-demand cable ferry operated by Western Pacific Marine under contract to the BC Ministry of Transportation and Transit, crossing the Kootenay River on Highway 3A between the Harrop/Procter peninsula and the Balfour side, about 24.5 km northeast of Nelson. Crossing takes about 5 minutes and the ferry runs 24 hours a day, no reservation needed. BC's Ministry of Transportation and Transit treats all inland ferries as an extension of the provincial highway system, mandated to accommodate all legal road users, including cyclists — bikes and e-bikes both ride free and unboxed.
