Saysutshun (Newcastle Island Marine Park) Campground
A walk-in island campground reached by a 10-minute passenger ferry from Maffeo Sutton Park in downtown Nanaimo; no road or vehicle access, so loaded bikes ride the ferry over. 18 walk-in tent sites a 5-minute walk from the dock, plus 5 group sites. Sandstone cliffs, beaches, old-growth forest, and historic trails. Hot showers, flush and pit toilets, potable water, and bear- and raccoon-proof food lockers. $18 per night for an individual site; open May through October. First-come first-served, but reservations through camping.bcparks.ca are recommended.
