Fort Nelson Heritage Museum

The Fort Nelson Heritage Museum sits at the historic Mile 300 marker on the Alaska Highway, preserving the story of the highway's dramatic nine-month WWII construction and the region's broader history from fur-trade origins to the oil-and-gas era. Spread across more than eight buildings and outdoor grounds, the collection includes vintage and WWII-era vehicles, a trapper's cabin, a general store display, and a life-sized sculpture of the record Chadwick Ram. The museum was founded by mechanic Marl Brown, who began rescuing discarded Army equipment in the 1950s and devoted the rest of his life to building the collection.
