The Seymour River Fish Hatchery & Education Centre is operated by the non-profit Seymour Salmonid Society and raises hundreds of thousands of coho, steelhead, chum, and pink salmon annually to supplement fish stocks cut off from spawning grounds by Seymour Falls Dam. The society runs a well-regarded 'Gently Down the Seymour' education program serving 1,200–1,500 school children per year and hosts public events such as Family Fishing Day. Access to the hatchery site is gate-controlled and the road is explicitly stated to be not open to the general public.
