Viva Mexicana
Viva Mexicana is an authentic Mexican restaurant founded by Carmen Ruiz, who set out to bring traditional flavours from scratch-made dishes to the Okanagan, opening in Lake Country during the pandemic and later adding a second Vernon location. The restaurant serves a broad menu of tacos, burritos, enchiladas, tamales, and seasonal specials like Sunday pozole, alongside a Mexican grocery section where cyclists can pick up authentic ingredients to go. It sits on Highway 97, a primary cycling corridor through the central Okanagan.
This place is in the traditional territory of the Confederated Tribes of the Colville Reservation, Nłeʔkepmx Tmíxʷ (Nlaka’pamux), Syilx (Okanagan), and Cayuse, Umatilla and Walla Walla.
