Kootenay Lake Ferry
Free inland vehicle and passenger ferry operated by BC Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure, connecting Balfour to Kootenay Bay across Kootenay Lake. Approximately 35-minute crossing. Year-round service. Accommodates bicycles: cyclists walk or roll bikes aboard as foot passengers at no charge. No reservations; service is first-come, first-served. Passenger + bike: cyclists board as foot passengers with their bike. Walk-on bikes: roll your bike directly onto the vehicle deck. Unboxed bikes OK: no packaging required, bikes roll on as-is
