Capilano River Hatchery

Built in 1971 to offset salmon stock declines caused by the Cleveland Dam, the Capilano River Hatchery is a federal Fisheries and Oceans Canada facility that draws nearly 250,000 visitors each year. It produces coho and chinook salmon that sustain recreational fisheries in Burrard Inlet and supports ceremonial fisheries for the Squamish First Nation. Set at the end of Capilano Park Road inside Capilano River Regional Park, it sits close to the canyon and the famous Capilano Suspension Bridge, making it a natural stop on a North Shore cycling loop.
