Free on-demand cable ferry operated by Western Pacific Marine under contract to the BC Ministry of Transportation and Transit, crossing the Kootenay River on Highway 3A about 22.5 km west of Nelson to the community of Glade. Crossing takes about 3 minutes and the ferry runs on demand from 5 am to 2:20 am, no reservation needed. BC's Ministry of Transportation and Transit treats all inland ferries as an extension of the provincial highway system, mandated to accommodate all legal road users, including cyclists — bikes and e-bikes both ride free and unboxed.
