Restored 1917 sternwheeler MV Tarahne, beached on the Atlin lakefront.

The MV Tarahne is a 36-metre historic sternwheeler built in 1917 for passenger and freight service on Atlin Lake, now permanently beached in Atlin and restored by the volunteer-run Atlin Historical Society as a heritage landmark. Launched at a time when Atlin was drawing tourists 'from all over the world,' the vessel embodies over a century of the region's gold-rush, tourism, and Taku River Tlingit history. Cyclists making the remote journey to this far-northern BC community can visit the ship, arrange walking tours with local historians, and even book the vessel for private events.
