The visitor centre and nature centre at Kokanee Creek Provincial Park sits right on Highway 3A between Nelson and the Kootenay Lake ferry at Balfour, making it a natural stop for touring cyclists on this popular Kootenay route. The park features over a kilometre of sandy Kootenay Lake beach, old-growth cedar forest, a canyon with viewing platform, and a spawning channel where kokanee salmon run from mid-August to mid-September.
