The Johnson Yew and Arbutus Cabins are two adjoining modern log cabins opened in 2009 at Loon Lake Lodge & Retreat Centre, a UBC-operated wilderness retreat facility nestled in the Malcolm Knapp Research Forest roughly 50 km east of Vancouver. Together the cabins sleep up to 48 guests in shared bunkroom-style rooms, each with a writing desk and WiFi, and both buildings are connected on the ground floor with lounge areas and fireplaces. The broader Loon Lake property offers hiking, waterfront activities, sauna, and on-site dining, making it a full-service but group-oriented destination.
