McLure Reaction Ferry
Accommodates bicyclesWalk-on bikesUnboxed bikes OKE-bikes OK
Free on-demand reaction ferry (current-propelled) operated by Argo Road Maintenance Inc. under contract to the BC Ministry of Transportation and Transit, crossing the North Thompson River off Highway 5 about 43 km north of Kamloops. Crossing takes about 5 minutes; runs on demand 7 am–noon and 1–6:20 pm, no reservation needed. BC's Ministry of Transportation and Transit treats all inland ferries as an extension of the provincial highway system, mandated to accommodate all legal road users, including cyclists — bikes and e-bikes both ride free and unboxed. No service during high water or winter freeze-up — the province posts a detour via Westsyde Road when it's out.
