Hastings Mill Park Museum

Housed in Vancouver's oldest surviving building — originally the Hastings Sawmill store, barged to its current Point Grey location in 1931 — this volunteer-run museum holds artifacts from the 1886 Great Vancouver Fire, the historic steamship SS Beaver, and a notable collection of First Nations basketry and carvings. It is stewarded by the Native Daughters of B.C., a non-profit society founded in 1919. A touring cyclist following the Point Grey waterfront would find it a compact but richly atmospheric step into the city's logging and maritime past.
