Lao Cai Chinese Cuisine
Lao Cai is a Shaanxi-style Chinese restaurant with 15 years of history, rooted in the street-food tradition of Xi'an with signature dishes like liangpi cold noodles, roujiamo stewed-meat sandwiches, and lamb pao-mo soup. It grew from a single street stall into a full restaurant blending Shaanxi snacks with rich hot pot, and now operates two BC locations — West Vancouver and Surrey. Touring cyclists riding the Marine Drive corridor would find a sit-down meal centred on regional Chinese cuisine well outside the usual North American-Chinese template.
This place is in the traditional territory of the S’ólh Téméxw (Stó:lō), səl̓ilwətaɁɬ təməxʷ (Tsleil-Waututh), Skwxwú7mesh-ulh Temíx̱w (Squamish), šxʷməθkʷəy̓əmaɁɬ təməxʷ (Musqueam), and Cayuse, Umatilla and Walla Walla.
