O.U.R. Ecovillage
O.U.R. Ecovillage is a 25-acre permaculture demonstration site and educational research centre established in 1999 on Vancouver Island near Shawnigan Lake, operating as a non-profit community services cooperative. It hosts guided public tours that walk visitors through natural building examples, food gardens, and ecological systems, reflecting decades of hands-on sustainable design. A touring cyclist would find it a genuinely unusual cultural stop — an intercultural, intergenerational living community with working farm, cob structures, and immersive courses ranging from permaculture design to natural building.
