What you're looking at#
Every bus, train, ferry, and water taxi that our Plan Your To and Fro tool can put you on with a bike. Each line is a hop between two neighbouring stops on a real route. Where several companies run the same hop, they share one line. Click it to see who runs it and how often.
Solid lines run every day. Dashed lines run on some days of the week, only in season, or on request.
Where the gaps are#
Plan Your To and Fro answers 18,628 trips between 137 places. For 3,048 of them, the best answer includes a one-way rental car, because no bus, train, or boat that takes bikes covers that stretch. Most of the hardest places share one gap: no bus that takes bikes runs north of Nanaimo, so Port Alberni, Campbell River, and everywhere reached through Port Hardy, including the central coast ferry ports, all inherit it. Switch on the rings under the list to see where that happens most.
The limits#
This map shows connections, not schedules. A line means a route exists and takes bikes, not that it runs when you need it. Local city buses are shown as town dots rather than lines, except where they link one town to the next. Carpool rides are left out.
