Old Growth Conservancy
The Old Growth Conservancy is a 54-hectare protected forest at 760 metres elevation on West Vancouver's mountainside, containing western redcedars up to 900 years old that survived a golf course development threat in 1990. The Old Growth Conservancy Society runs free guided tours into the reserve's interior, including off-trail sections not normally open to the public, offering a rare encounter with one of BC's last remnants of ancient temperate rainforest. The society's board includes mountain bikers and hikers, and it collaborates with the North Shore Mountain Biking Association on trail access matters in adjacent areas.
