Orpheum

Welcoming · Museum / Gallery · Vancouver (Vancouver, Coast and Mountains)

The Orpheum is a grand 1927 concert hall in downtown Vancouver, best known as the permanent home of the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, the largest performing arts organization in Western Canada. Designed by architect B. Marcus Priteca, the 2,672-seat auditorium retains its original opulence — sweeping staircases, Romanesque and Gothic arches, a domed ceiling mural, and a giant crystal chandelier. Originally a vaudeville house, it has hosted performers ranging from Fred Astaire to world-touring classical ensembles and is a National Historic Site.
