Thornton Creek Hatchery
Thornton Creek Hatchery is a community-run salmon hatchery operated by the non-profit Thornton Creek Enhancement Society since 1981, focused on enhancing Chinook, Coho, and Chum salmon stocks in Barkley and Clayoquot Sounds. Situated just outside Ucluelet, it offers educational tours where visitors can observe salmon fry and learn about hatchery science and conservation. The site draws particular interest during the fall salmon run, when bears are also frequently present on the grounds.
