The Conservation Area at Maplewood Flats

The Conservation Area at Maplewood Flats is the North Shore's only wild bird sanctuary, managed by the Wild Bird Trust of BC on the unceded territory of the Tsleil-Waututh Nation, featuring 5km of trails through restored mudflat habitat along Burrard Inlet. The site includes a Nature House, rotating and permanent exhibits, and a Coast Salish Plant Nursery that weaves ecological conservation with Indigenous cultural heritage. Situated on Dollarton Highway near the Second Narrows Bridge, it offers touring cyclists a distinctive and peaceful detour through one of North Vancouver's most ecologically significant green spaces.
