Nk'Mip Desert Cultural Centre

Info · Museum / Gallery · Osoyoos (Thompson Okanagan) · $$

The Nk'Mip Desert Cultural Centre (pronounced in-ka-meep) is a state-of-the-art interpretive centre built into the hillside of a 1,600-acre desert conservation area — the largest remnant of the Great American Desert and one of Canada's most endangered places. Operated by the Osoyoos Indian Band, it features immersive multi-sensory theatres, a reconstructed village, a sculpture gallery, and self-guided desert walking trails with views from Chief's Lookout. A touring cyclist passing through Osoyoos would find it a compelling stop for learning about Syilx culture and the unique desert ecology of the southern Okanagan.
