Beacon Theatre
The Beacon Theatre is Canada's second community-owned cinema, purchased in 2010 by the Lakes District Film Appreciation Society and located in Burns Lake on the Yellowhead Highway. Upgraded from a 1950s 35mm projector system to full digital projection and sound, it now shows first-run films, 3D movies, and satellite events. For touring cyclists passing through the Cariboo–Chilcotin interior on Highway 16, it offers a rare chance to catch a current film in a small, community-run venue.
