Manzanita Ridge Nature Reserve

Info · Park / Nature · Duncan (Vancouver Island) · Free

Manzanita Ridge Nature Reserve is a 20-hectare conservation area on the southeast end of Salt Spring Island's Mt. Erskine ridge, protecting one of the island's rare south-facing coastal Douglas-fir habitats with an Arbutus-Hairy Manzanita ecosystem. Acquired in 2003 through a mix of donation and community fundraising, it is managed by the Salt Spring Island Conservancy under a conservation covenant. The reserve offers 0.5 km of public hiking trails — a quiet natural detour for cyclists exploring Salt Spring Island.
