Columbia National Wildlife Area
Columbia National Wildlife Area is a federally protected wetland complex in the Rocky Mountain Trench of southeastern BC, consisting of four separate units — Wilmer, Spillimacheen, Brisco, and Harrogate — strung along the Columbia Valley. The area forms part of the larger Columbia Wetlands system, one of the longest continuous wetlands in North America and a major corridor of the Pacific Flyway. Touring cyclists riding the Columbia Valley route pass through or near these units and can observe migratory waterfowl and wetland wildlife in a dramatic mountain setting.
