Hotel Ymir
Built in 1896 during the Salmo River Valley mining boom, Hotel Ymir is one of the oldest surviving buildings in the West Kootenay region and has been fully restored as a country resort with a licensed dining room (Pau Hana), a lounge (Cowichan), and a remarkable world art collection. The hotel sits directly across from the old Burlington Northern Railway corridor, now a 50+ km converted rail trail ideal for hiking and cycling along the Salmo River. Accommodation ranges from hostel-style bunk rooms on the third floor to en-suite queen rooms and two suites with gas fireplaces.
