Walhachin Museum

Info · Museum / Gallery · Walhachin (Thompson Okanagan) · Free

The Walhachin Museum is housed in the 1911 Soldiers Memorial Hall in the tiny South Thompson River community of Walhachin, west of Kamloops, and tells the story of an ambitious early-1900s British settlement that attempted to grow orchards on arid benchlands. The community holds a remarkable WWI legacy: 97 of 107 able-bodied men enlisted, leading to the settlement's eventual decline. Free admission makes it a low-barrier cultural stop for cyclists riding the Thompson River corridor.
