Worlds Largest Fly Rod

Houston's signature roadside landmark, this oversized fishing rod was conceived in the 1980s when BC tourism promoters encouraged small towns to build eye-catching monuments to put themselves on the map. Local fly fisherman Warner Jarvis championed the idea at a Chamber of Commerce workshop, and the result is a free, publicly accessible outdoor sculpture that has become a regional curiosity. Touring cyclists passing through Central BC on Highway 16 will find it a memorable photo opportunity in the community of Houston.
