Othello / Quintette Tunnels
The Othello Tunnels (also called the Quintette Tunnels) are five rock-cut railway tunnels blasted through a 300-foot granite gorge on the Kettle Valley Railway in 1914, now preserved within Coquihalla Canyon Provincial Park near Hope. The 3.5 km round-trip trail threads through the tunnels and across suspension bridges above the churning Coquihalla River, forming part of the Trans Canada Trail on a flat, gravel surface. Cyclists are welcome on the trail but must dismount and walk through the tunnels, and flashlights are strongly recommended for the longer, darker sections.
