Columbia National Wildlife Area

Columbia National Wildlife Area is a federally protected nature reserve managed by Environment and Climate Change Canada, comprising four separate units — Wilmer, Spillimacheen, Brisco, and Harrogate — spread across the Rocky Mountain Trench in southeastern BC. It forms part of the broader Columbia Wetlands system, one of the longest undyked floodplain wetlands in North America and a critical Pacific flyway corridor for migratory waterfowl. Cyclists touring the Columbia Valley will find the area offers exceptional wildlife viewing, including rare and threatened wetland species, as a backdrop to riding through this dramatic mountain valley.
