Pesuta

Info · Activity / Experience · Tlell (Northern British Columbia) · Low

The Pesuta is the partially intact wooden hull of a Japanese log barge that ran aground on the north beach of Haida Gwaii on December 11, 1928, and has been weathering on the sand ever since. It sits within Naikoon Provincial Park, a vast wilderness of beach, bog, and old-growth forest on the traditional territory of the Haida Nation. Touring cyclists on Haida Gwaii typically reach it via a beach hike from the Tlell River trailhead, making it one of the most dramatic and remote landmarks on any BC cycling itinerary.
