Paint Pots

Info · Activity / Experience · Kootenay Rockies (Kootenay Rockies) · Free

The Paint Pots are a series of vivid ochre-coloured mineral springs in Kootenay National Park, reached by a short trail off Highway 93. The iron-rich deposits hold deep cultural significance for Indigenous peoples and have been a gathering place for thousands of years. Touring cyclists riding the Kootenay Parkway pass close by and can make a quick detour to see one of the most distinctive geological features in the Canadian Rockies.
