Castle Giant
Castle Giant is a massive western redcedar (Thuja plicata) with a 16-foot (5-meter) diameter trunk, located in the Lower Castle Grove of the Central Walbran Valley on Vancouver Island. The surrounding Castle Grove is considered one of the highest-density concentrations of monumental ancient redcedars in the world, and has been documented by the Ancient Forest Alliance as one of Canada's most significant unprotected old-growth stands. Reaching this remote natural monument requires travel deep into the Walbran Valley watershed.
