Lac Du Bois Tranquility

This loop climbs out of Kamloops into the Lac Du Bois Grasslands Protected Area — one of BC's largest remaining grassland ecosystems. The terrain is rolling ranch road and doubletrack through sagebrush, bunchgrass, and ponderosa pine. Wildlife is abundant: watch for deer, coyotes, and rattlesnakes.
The loop is entirely within the Kamloops area, so the city is your base camp for food, accommodation, and bike services. There are no services or settlements on the loop itself — carry all your water and food. The grasslands are exposed and hot in summer; early season (May–June) or fall is best.
Getting there
Kamloops: drive from Vancouver (3.5 hr) or fly into Kamloops Airport (YKA). The loop starts from the north end of Kamloops via Tranquille Rd.
