KVR Myra Canyon

Starting from Penticton, this route follows the KVR rail bed north through Naramata — a wine-village 16 km in that's your last proper resupply — then climbs steadily to Chute Lake at the summit. From there, the trail descends slightly to the Myra Canyon trestles: 18 restored wooden trestle bridges and two tunnels spanning deep canyon gorges.
The climb from Penticton to Chute Lake gains roughly 1,200m over 40 km, but at rail grade it's never steep — just long. Most riders do it as an out-and-back day ride to the trestles, or as an overnight with camping at Chute Lake.
Getting there
Penticton: start from the KVR trailhead near the Kettle Valley Steam Railway in Summerland, or from the south end trailhead in Penticton. Shuttle services run Penticton to Naramata (see directory).
Getting away
Return the way you came (downhill!), or arrange a shuttle from Chute Lake. If continuing to Kelowna, the trail descends via Myra Forest Service Road to east Kelowna.
